SW Florida 55 Plus Communities
The Age Qualified Communities Lifestyle
Age Qualified communities, often referred to as 55 Plus communities, or Adult Living communities, are governed by HUD - The Housing and Urban Development Department and administered by the Federal government. The Housing for Older Persons Act requires that at least one person in the household is 55 years of age, or older, and that the community establish age verification guidelines and requirements. There are not a lot of SW Florida 55 Plus communities in the immediate area but the few available are so much more modern and offer tons of amenities and activities for active adults you may be surprised that they are Age Qualified living communities at all.

What to Question in a 55 Plus Community Before Buying There
When inquiring about a 55 Plus, or Age Qualified living community, be sure to obtain a copy of both the association documents (governing documents), and the rules and regulations. Although, there are many non-retired owners lliving in the community, residents may have requirements about how long children may visit, who may reside in the home for any extended period of time, and who is allowed to become a full time and permanent resident.
Depending on the level of services provided in an Age Qualified community, you may have limited or all inclusive association support services - this will also dictate how the annual fees are calculated. The most important decision you can make is how to assess what your senior care needs will be. So, be sure to inquire and get your answers ahead of time!
