Having learned bunches about blogging from my friends at Real Estate Webmasters Blogs, I can honestly say I have come to understand its importance to our real estate and mortgage business here in Southwest Florida. Being able to keep our clients abreast of the up-to-date goings on in the marketplace is an invaluable service that our company’s Southwest Florida blog easily provides. Throwing in some information now and then about things regarding living here in paradise and Viola! we have a valuable asset for both our business and our clients.
But, perhaps the most gratifying thing our blog has given us, is recognition from both the marketplace and our peers. Over the last 11 months of regularly blogging, we were contacted by CNN, AP, and the Bonita-Naples Daily News requesting our professional opionion on current market conditons and their impact for the SW Florida Gulf Coast. Being approached by both the local and national press and also by other professionals within our industry is really gratifying. Most recently, Terry, our resident mortgage expert, was interviewed and quoted for an article on FHA Loan Limits in the July edition of the Florida Realtors magazine.
Being recognized as an expert in your field is the highest form of flattery one can achieve in our opinion. Working hard, staying abreast of the happenings in your field, and servicing your client’s needs are what make a business grow. Getting a few kudos and some recognition every now and then makes your efforts all the more worthwhile. Good show TLD!

Seriously - though - totally agree about the importantance of a blog to real estate businesses.
My broker has become totally comitted to using blogging as the way to get yourself known in the market place. Every week we have blogging classes and he is so adament about getting us to blog we have nick named him “The Blogging Dude”.
Totally agree! We started blogging a few months ago. Who knows a city, town or area better than someone who lives there. Not just facts and figures but where to take the kids in the hot summer heat or a great little place to eat. This will benefit everyone.
My clients love my blogs and I have gotten many responses and referrals from other Realtors in other areas. Not only can I talk about my listings but I can talk about the areas they are in. Clients from other cities find the blogs and see that you are the expert in the area they are moving…it works really well.
Keeping everyone up to date with the ever changing marketplace and branding are both great advantages of blogs!
Making sure your blog offers interesting information and is consumer friendly will make a big difference. It should give the consumer the info they want in a concise easy to navigate manner. Intuitive.
Think of some of the things you always wanted to know about real estate or buying or selling a home (before you were an agent) and blog about those topics. If you were curious.. so are probably thousands of others…
We’re new to blogging but we have found it’s a great way to network locally. We run our blog alongside a magazine that we publish quarterly and distribute around London’s West End.
We’re trying to get it right at the local level.
