There are three nine hole championship courses designed by Chip Powell and Senior PGA Tour player, Mike Hill, who is also a Pelican Sound resident, named the River, the Lakes, and the Sound.
Located on 547 acres backing up to a State park, the community features both formal and informal dining at the Golf Club and the River Club. The River Club is located on Estero River where there is a community boat launch, canoe and kayak park, water taxi to Lover’s Key State Park for the beach, and the fitness center with large resort style community pool. Even better is a screened-in porch where you can enjoy cocktails and a bite to eat – or enjoy one of the eight large screen TVs for your favorite sporting event. You are welcome to take the water taxi through the scenic Estero River to the beach – the round trip takes about two hours, or you might disembark and enjoy the day shelling or fishing from the beach. Or, take your own boat down the River and enjoy the backwater fishing. The community offers locked boat storage, but there are only 125 lots, and there is typically a waiting list.
Pelican Sound offers estate sized homes, villas, carriage homes and condominiums – every type of living arrangement to try and fit your desires. Golf membership is transferred with the purchase of any type of property in the complex and the 2012 bundled golf fee is $5,191. This is a very active community that permits golf cart traffic, is truly busy in Season, and there is something to do for everyone.
